About the Job
The key objectives of the Fund Finance Manager (‘FFM’) role are to be responsible for all management and financial accounting and reporting for all entities within their Fund/Mandates; to build and manage all key relationships including auditors, service providers (accounting, tax, administration, custody and audit) preparing that reporting; and to provide local Finance support and advice to non-Finance colleagues and investors.
- Financial accounting – investor reporting
The FFM is responsible for the coordination and preparation of the finance elements within the investor reporting, which could include monthly pricing and quarterly reporting. The financial reporting is outsourced to third party providers and as such the main element of this task to manage the relationship with them, review their outputs, provide input on complex accounting issues and highlight any operational issues.
- Financial accounting – statutory
The FFM is responsible for coordination of the preparation and audit of annual (and interim, as appropriate) financial statements for funds within their remit. All financial accounting is outsourced to third party providers and as such the main element of this task to manage the relationship with them, review their outputs, provide input on complex accounting issues and highlight any operational issues
- Transaction support
The FFM will support the financial side of transactions in conjunction with the SFFM, the portfolio managers, Head of Treasury and Head of Tax
- Client services and investors
The FFM will be the financial representative for the fund for both the client services team and investors
- Banking, debt and cash management
The FFM will be responsible for cash management, day to day banking and assisting where possible in the securing of debt or credit lines. This element of the role will involve working with the Head of Treasury
The FFM will manage the tax structure and tax reporting of the funds/mandates they are responsible for
- Corporate Governance
The FFM will ensure the companies in the structure are appropriately managed
- Financial modelling
The FFM will be responsible for inputting into and reviewing the corporate and tax assumptions within the Fund model
The FFM is responsible for coordination of all of the above key responsibilities
- Ad hoc tasks
The FFM should seek to identify and recommend possible process and control improvements, which promote greater efficiency and/or accuracy, on an on-going basis.
The FFM may be required to undertake other ad hoc tasks or projects from time to time.
Candidates will need to demonstrate strong inter-personal skills, as well as being fluent in verbal and written English. Other key qualities include:
- Qualified accountant
- Strong educational background
- Advanced Excel skills and competence with other Microsoft Office packages;
- Knowledge of IFRS (and local GAAP, if IFRS is not accepted locally);
- Knowledge of local corporate and VAT taxation requirements.
- Knowledge of, and experience of working with, property investments is helpful;
- Strong project management and communication;
- Self starter with a proactive attitude and be able to demonstrate this during interview;
- Staff management experience and a team player
