Job Purpose

Owing to growth in the Asia Pacific business we are seeking an individual to fill a new role as Analyst, Research & Strategy, Asia Pacific.

This role will potentially cover both real estate equity and debt investments across a range of real estate sectors (Commercial and Living) and geographies (largely, but not exclusively, the major developed markets of the region).

The preferred candidate will have the ability to communicate to a variety of audiences and through many mediums (report writing, presentations, videos, webinars, etc).

Role Responsibilities

Responsibilities and tasks include, but are not limited to:

• Monitor and report on key Asia Pacific economic and capital market trends
• Potential to take specific responsibility for a specific sector or geographic responsibility to be agreed in discussion with the Head of Research & Strategy, Asia Pacific
• Contribute to research publications, including Quarterly Market Outlook reports and one-off thematic research papers – Ideally leading the origination and completion of specific research materials
• Contribute and lead house view discussions with respective colleagues in the organisation and help enforce these recommendations into day to day activity
• Review external research relating to the economic and property outlook and other topical issues;
• Liaise with external research and data providers
• Collaborate with other members of the global research and strategy team to define data requirements and data opportunities
• Adherence to SavillsIM Risk and Compliance Framework.

Person Specification 

• Strong academic qualifications (Master’s or above in a relevant discipline is preferred but not required)
• Previous experience in a similar or relevant role
• A demonstrable understanding of real estate investment and the key drivers of their performance in Asia Pacific markets
• A strong ability to communicate research findings to a wide variety of audiences, both written and verbal.
• English is our primary business language, and we welcome candidates with skills in the languages of Asia Pacific’s major Real Estate markets and where we are most active eg Japan, South Korea
• Strong interest in sustainability & ESG trends in the real estate sector
• Ability to produce concise and thoughtful materials for internal and external uses.
• Comfortable delivering presentations at short notice
• Strong analytical mindset and skills – Experience managing datasets will be a plus
• Understanding of statistical software relevant to the role; At a minimum an advanced user of Excel
• Ability to demonstrate a high level of tenacity and attention to detail
• Motivated self-starter, with the ability to analyze situations, recommend sound solutions and implement strategies
• International travel may be required
