Role Overview
Savills IM has committed to halve intensity of Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions from the global real estate assets we manage by 2030, and to achieve net zero carbon by 2040. Our assets cover a range of property sectors, but this role would focus on office, retail, industrial & logistics, and residential in the European market.
Role Responsibilities
Reviewing net zero carbon building audits and providing specialist advice to support fund teams in building the business case and developing net zero implementation plans in line with their strategies
Identifying suitable technical partnerships to support teams in their implementation plans, and contributing to building the business case and scope of work for those providers
Actively participating in the annual process to define the sustainability capex plans for assets within priority funds
Supporting investment teams in identifying suitable decarbonisation prop tech solutions, reviewing energy efficiency and low carbon technology proposals (such as renewables, heat pumps, solar photovoltaics and building management systems), and enabling the implementation of those interventions
Overseeing and managing projects in collaboration with asset managers
Where feasible, and in collaboration with relevant internal and external parties, aligning projects with available financial incentives and external funding
Working with the ESG and investment teams to ensure net zero interventions are sufficiently considered as part of the acquisitions and underwriting process
Updating and building upon internal technical guidance materials as required
Educating and upskilling investment teams, enabling them to confidently engage in net zero topics with their investors
Running engagement sessions on net zero to upskill all business functions
Representing Savills IM at relevant industry events and working groups (which may include CRREM, Better Buildings Partnership (BBP), INREV, and Global Real Estate Engagement Network (GREEN))
Job Requirements
Relevant technical qualification at Degree level, such as building-related engineering, architecture or surveying
Experience in successfully delivering net zero carbon, energy efficiency or building retrofit programmes in the EU, and in generating cost-benefit analyses for energy projects and the verification of energy savings following project implementation; experience of the same in the UK would be desirable
Experience with energy or building services modelling packages
Ability to communicate to a wide range of audiences, including technical specialists, investment teams and industry groups
Experience with independently managing projects and ensuring work is delivered to a high standard within the allocated timeframe and budget
Experience using the Carbon Risk Real Estate Monitor (CRREM) tool and comfortable upskilling in new analytics software
A passionate sustainability advocate

Comfortable and skilled at working with ambiguity and complexity in a fast-paced environment
Desire to educate and upskill colleagues
A good understanding of the challenges that real estate investment managers have with implementing net zero carbon solutions
